    Terms of Service

    Last updated: February 16, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the DebtDefender website, mobile experience, calculators, AI tools, newsletter, downloadable resources, and any other services we make available (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

    1. Who We Are

DebtDefender is a Canadian educational and tools platform that helps consumers understand debt, credit, collections, insolvency options, and negotiation. We are not a law firm, not a licensed insolvency trustee, not a credit counselling agency, and not a debt settlement company. We do not provide legal, financial, tax, or insolvency advice, and we do not represent you in dealings with creditors. All decisions about your money, debt, and creditors remain yours alone.

    2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Canada to use the Services. By using the Services you represent that any information you provide is accurate, that you are using the Services for lawful purposes, and that you will not misuse the Services or attempt to interfere with their operation, security, or availability.

    3. Educational Content Only

All articles, news, reports, calculators, AI-generated outputs (including the AI Negotiation Letter generator, AI chatbot, and saved articles), downloadable templates, and any other content on the Services are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. They are not a substitute for advice from a licensed professional. Always consult a Licensed Insolvency Trustee, qualified lawyer, accredited non-profit credit counsellor, or other licensed Canadian professional before acting on anything you read or generate here.

    4. AI-Generated Output

Some features (including chat, letter drafting, summaries, and recommendations) are powered by large language models. AI output can be incomplete, out of date, biased, or simply wrong. You are responsible for reviewing, verifying, and editing any AI-generated text before sending it to a creditor, collection agency, court, or other third party. We make no warranty that AI output is accurate, fit for purpose, or legally sufficient in your province.

    5. Accounts and Acceptable Use

If you create an account, you are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity on your account. You agree not to: (a) reverse engineer, scrape, or systematically harvest the Services; (b) use the Services to send spam, phishing, or harassing communications; (c) upload malicious code; (d) impersonate any person or entity; (e) attempt to bypass rate limits, paywalls, or access controls; or (f) use the Services in any way that violates Canadian law.

    6. Newsletter and Email Communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you consent to receive periodic emails about Canadian debt topics, new tools, and related educational content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by visiting the unsubscribe page. Transactional emails related to your account, security, or a tool you used may still be sent after you unsubscribe from marketing.

    7. Intellectual Property

All trademarks, logos, copy, code, designs, datasets, and proprietary tooling on the Services are owned by DebtDefender or its licensors and are protected by Canadian and international intellectual property laws. You may view, print, and share content for personal, non-commercial use with attribution. You may not republish, resell, mirror, or build a competing product from our content without written permission.

    8. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Disclosure

The Services may link to third-party websites, comparison offers, and affiliate partners (such as lenders or credit-monitoring providers). We may earn a commission when you sign up through certain links. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, terms, or practices. Inclusion of a partner is not an endorsement and does not guarantee suitability for your situation.

    9. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defects will be corrected. Statistics, indexes, and creditor information may be out of date.

    10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DebtDefender, its officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or savings, arising out of or related to your use of the Services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the Services will not exceed CAD $100.

    11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless DebtDefender from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

    12. Changes to the Services and Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time without notice. We may also revise these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

    13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of laws principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario for the resolution of any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services.
